Our Missions

PURPOSE

We at Winter Park’s First do not see our church limited to the walls and property we own. We believe in missions at home, through the United States and the world. That mission work may be evangelistic in nature or it may be social providing for the physical needs of people.

HOW WE ARE AFFILIATED

Winter Park’s First Baptist Church has elected to provide financial support for over 10,000 missionaries and their work through the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, the Florida Baptist Convention and the Greater Orlando Baptist Association. In addition, we provide monetary support to other select groups as we see needs.

WHERE WE HAVE BEEN

Our own members participate in a variety of mission projects throughout the world. From hurricane Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans to dental and construction work in Brazil. From building a Habitat for Humanity house in Winter Park to shorter education efforts in Southeast Asia. From inner city clean-up efforts in South Carolina to construction work in Haiti. From providing volunteers for the Winter Park Children’s Fishing Rodeo to the work of our Sidewalk Sunday School which goes into many neighborhoods each week.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

We will go wherever God leads us to go. There are opportunities locally as well as further away.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

Our Mission’s Team is divided into three sub-committees. The Jerusalem Committee is always looking for opportunities close to home. The Habitat for Humanity house and Sidewalk Sunday School are examples of the work they do. The Samaria Committee is always seeking opportunities to serve throughout America. The relief and construction work our people have done in New Orleans through various trips since Hurricane Katrina hit are examples of their work. The Uttermost Parts Committee is interested in promoting mission work throughout the world. The work our people have done in Brazil over the years or the education work happening this year in Southeast Asia are examples of their interest. We need you! If you have interest please contact us through the mission’s pastor or any committee member.

MISSION HOME

From time to time those who serve as full-time missionaries throughout the world come home to America for rest, to take care of family business, to study or for many other reasons. When these missionaries come “home” we are happy to help by providing a home for them. The FBCWP mission home is a beautiful fully furnished residence in Winter Park. We offer it to missionaries as a comfortable haven while they are stateside at no cost to them. It is one way we say “thank you” for the valuable work they do.
